Research and development of new test typologies for the evaluation of composite materials

This project will undertake a general analysis of the different test methods of composite materials initially proposed for short or continuous fibre reinforced matrices composites. However, new types of composites with felts, hollows, etc., make a thorough evaluation necessary. New tests will also be developed in order to quantify the abrasion resistance in air jet depending on the type and speed of abrasive as well as the abrasion conditions (distance, angle, etc.).

Finally, mechanical resistance will be determined after the composites were attacked by tmospheric agents, UV radiation, ambient temperature, relative humidity, etc. Based on the obtained results there will be proposed new consecutive tests (abrasion on composite exposed to high humidity or UV radiation, etc.) for the same composite pieces and the results will be compared with those obtained in each trial separately
