New Hybrid Supercapacitors-based on carbon/graphene nanocomposite electrodes derived from (Oxi) carbides

The research is based on the obtention of new materials for electrodes of hybrid supercapacitors of carbon/graphene matrix nanocomposites and multivalent transition element oxides in which these matrices will be obtained from (oxi) carbides derived from pre-ceramic hybrid or polymeric materials

Smart Films for pH-responsive drugs release used in vaginal applications for AIDS preventionSmart Films for pH-responsive drugs release used in vaginal applications for AIDS prevention

Smart Films for pH-responsive drugs release used in vaginal applications for AIDS prevention

This project will develop intelligent PH-controlled release films for the prevention of sexually transmitted AIDS. The films will be formed by a biocompatible organic matrix and micro-nanoparticles of silicon oxycarbides with micro-meso porosoties and with mono-bi-trimodal pore size distributions. These particles will be coated with polymers sensitive to the pH of the medium and in whose pores are the selective drugs of preventing AIDS.

Bioactive coatings to promote tissue regeneration and ingrowth into 3D custom-made porous titanium endoimplants

The objetive is to combine a highly porous metal scaffold, made by EMB sintering technology, and tissue engineering elements (biomaterials, signalling molecules and stem cells) to produce a bioactive implant for maxillofacial surgery, and to test this implant in a concrete clinical setting: reconstruction of full-thick mandibular defects.
